The idea for EARTHBOX originated from a simple question. What if we could create an underground immersive and sensory experience that gives visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore and discover the earth?<\/p>\n

What started as a seemingly impossible dream was transformed into a unique attraction comprising a large underground chamber where the visitor was surrounded by ancient raw earth walls, a sculpted undulating landscape (created with the excavated earth), and a welcome pavilion.<\/p>\n

EARTHBOX opened to the public on 1st November 2023 and closed on 1st September 2024.\u00a0 Once closed, the excavation was filled with the original earth that once created the landscape\u2019s berms and mounds, all human trace was removed; all elements were either sold, repurposed or recycled, leaving the field as before.<\/p>\n

The Making Of:
\nEngineering and Design<\/h2>\n

When EARTHBOX was conceived, the question was whether carving a subterranean chamber in raw earth could even be possible.<\/p>\n

Work began in the summer of February 2023, but the rains came early in March threatening to derail the construction of EARTHBOX. More rain fell in the area in between March and August 2023 than the average of the last 100 years.<\/p>\n
